About Case Knives
Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy are going to be talking about Case Knives. Case is a long-standing producer of knives which has persisted for well over a century. Our goal here is to provide a brief overview about Case while also touching on some of their traits and offerings. Now let’s get into it.
Â
What are Case Knives?
Case was founded in 1889 the four Case brothers in Bradford, Pennsylvania. For over a century, the company has produced a variety of knives which have been utilized by multiple generations of customers. The company has manufactured knives for U.S. military personnel in both World Wars. Notably, the astronauts on the Gemini 3 mission, Gus Grissom and John Young, had Case Knives on them during their mission. Presently, the Zippo Manufacturing Company, known for their lighters, owns Case. The company offers knives for practical use cases and collecting alike.
Â
Where are Case Knives Made?
According to Case, a majority of their knives are still made in their Bradford location. Today, some of their knives are produced outside of the United States. Some of the materials utilized in some of the knife handles and scales are also imported, particularly those of the exotic hardwood variety.
Case Knife Offerings
The company offers a wide variety of knives in multiple product lines. Styles of knives range from fixed, folding, assisted open, locking, flipper, and culinary type knives. Specific categories and product lines of knives include Case’s heritage, signature, modern, sporting, specialty, and case club knives. Most of the knives made by Case are of a traditional folding design which tend to feature one or two different blades. Case does a good job of describing the optimal use case for the blade(s) included on their offerings. For example, the Spey type blade is described by Case as being optimal for hunting, everyday tasks, and farming use cases. The specialty options offered by Case range from commemorative versions of their traditional knives to the company’s rendition of a USMC Ka-Bar style knife.

Knife Personalization
Currently, Case offers personalization options on their site when buying knives. One is able to customize aspects such as the handle material, handle color, and blade options. Case also provides customers with the option to engrave the blade of their knives. This service is good for those wanting to personalize a knife to fit their aesthetic desires and particularly good for personalizing gifts.
Â
Case Collector’s Club
Since the 1981, the company has supported the Case Collector’s Club. The club has three membership tiers, regular, life, and junior memberships. Regular memberships cost $25 per year while life memberships incur a one-time fee of $200. Junior memberships are free to those 16 and younger if they are sponsored by a current regular or life member. Members of the club are afforded access to exclusive knives and promotions unavailable to the public. Club members also have access to the Case online forum community. Collectors Club members are also able to take advantage of Case factory tours. More information about the Case Collectors Club can be found on the Case website.
Warranty and Repair
Case will warrant each knife they produce for the lifetime of the owner. Like most companies, abuse and normal wear are not covered by warranty. If a knife is not covered by warranty, the company can inspect it and use their discretion to determine if it can be repaired for a reasonable fee.
Other Resources
On their website, Case has information regarding knife maintenance and usage. One can easily learn about knife cleaning and care, sharpening, and general knife safety on the company’s site.
