Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy are going to be talking about PMC ammunition today. The company is well-known for their various ammunition offerings which span multiple calibers and grain weights. Our goal here is to provide a brief overview of the company while going over some of their product offerings. Without further ado, let’s get into it and talk about PMC.
Precision Made Cartridges, or PMC, is a provider of ammunition. The company offers a wide variety of pistol and rifle cartridges which encompass a wide variety of popular calibers. Currently, the company does not manufacture any shotgun ammunition. The company offers a variety of loadings and specific product lines which cater to different types of end users. In today’s market, PMC is one of the most popular ammunition brands, due mainly to their consistent production of high-quality ammunition.
PMC ammunition is manufactured in South Korea by the Poongsan Corporation. The company has an ISO certified facility and produces munition for sporting and military use. This facility produces a wide variety of small arm ammunition for both military and commercial use in addition to things such as Howitzer munitions for the South Korean military.
The components used to manufacture the ammunition PMC sells are produced in-house. This means that ammunition production is not dependent upon components being provided from an external source. This also affords the company the ability to ensure a high degree of quality as they control each and every component which goes into their products.
PMC offers their ammunition in a variety of different product lines. These lines are tailormade to specific use cases and specifications. These lines encompass both pistol and rifle calibers.
PMC’s Bronze line consists of ammunition intended for range and competition use. This is the most common type of ammunition one will find from PMC as a variety of pistol and rifle calibers are offered in this line. Loadings in this line feature full metal jacket (FMJ), jacketed hollow point (JHP), and soft point (SP) projectiles to name a few. Essentially, the Bronze line serves as PMC’s general purpose and economically-priced ammunition line.
The SFX line from PMC represents the company’s premium and high-performance. The company states that the SFX line of ammunition is loaded to meet existing law enforcement protocols and specifications. The SFX hollow point ammunition line is designed to feed effectively and reliably while providing fight-stopping expansion. Currently, PMC only offers a 124 grain 9mm Luger loading in this line at this time.
PMC’s eRange line represents their eco-friendly ammunition loadings. The loads in this line are purpose-built to be “cleaner” than other types of ammunition as it effectively eliminates airborne lead. A reduction in lead like this is particularly appreciable by those who shoot frequently at indoor ranges. The calibers represented by this line are limited to pistol calibers only and include .380 ACP, .38 Special, .44 Magnum, and 9mm Luger.
The X-Tac line from PMC consists of high-quality loadings intended for duty use. The 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition offered by PMC in this line adhere to military specifications, particularly M193 and M855. M193 spec ammunition consists of a 55 grain projectile while the M855 spec loadings feature a 62 grain light armor penetrator green tip projectile. The line also includes a 147 grain 7.62x51mm NATO loading and battle pack offerings of both 5.56x45mm NATO loadings. To cement their status as duty-rated loadings, this line of ammunition features crimped and sealed primers while also featuring crimped casings to ensure cartridge integrity.
This variation of the PMC X-Tac ammunition line focuses more on being a match or competition ready load as opposed to a duty loading. This line encompasses rifle calibers and features projectiles and grain weights conducive to tight groupings and higher performance at extended ranges. The .223 Remington and .308 Winchester loadings in this line feature Sierra projectiles while the .50 BMG load features a match grade projectile from PMC.
The company provides a variety of handgun ammunition offerings. As far as pistol ammo goes, the offerings encompass common calibers such as 9mm Luger, .40 Smith & Wesson, and .45 ACP to name a few. Less mainstream cartridges such as .25 ACP and .32 ACP are also produced by PMC. Pistol loadings are available with both FMJ and JHP projectiles, giving shooters ammunition for range, competition, and defensive usage.
PMC also offers a variety of rifle ammunition in popular calibers. Common offerings include .223 Remington, 5.56x45mm NATO, .308 Winchester, and 7.62x51mm NATO to name a few. The company even offers a variety of loadings for .50 BMG. Brass cased 7.62×39 is also offered by the company, providing AK shooters with ammunition cleared for use at essentially any range they can go to. Projectiles for rifle ammunition offerings from PMC will typically feature FMJ and SP projectiles.
While PMC can be bought by the box like most brands, their various bulk options are particularly popular. The bulk offerings can be had in case quantities and smaller battle pack quantities. The case quantities will depend on the specific caliber. For example, 9mm Luger and 5.56x45mm cases will feature 1,000 rounds while a case of .50 BMG consists of 200 rounds. As far as battle packs go, PMC offer ammunition from their Bronze line in both pistol and rifle calibers. Like the bulk ammo in case form, the quantity of ammunition in a battle pack depends on the caliber. A 9mm Luger battle pack will yield 300 rounds of ammunition while a .45 ACP battle pack provides 250 rounds. At the end of the day, PMC offers quality ammunition in a variety of quantities to help you get stocked up for your next outing.
All in all, you really cannot go wrong with PMC ammunition. Whether you’re shooting a pistol or a rifle, they have a variety of loads to keep you shooting, regardless of your use case.
