About Shield Arms
Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy are going to go over Shield Arms today. The company is a recent addition to the firearms industry which has grown popular due to some of the products and services they offer. We are going to provide a brief overview of Shield Arms while delving into things such as their product offerings, services, and more. Without further ado, let’s talk about Shield Arms.
Â
Who is Shield Arms?
Founded in 2017 in Bigfork, Montana, Shield Arms is a brand which manufactures a variety of products tailored towards shooters and their needs. Many of these products, such as their magazines, firearms components and accessories, and Folding Lower Receiver are employed and enjoyed by many types of shooters. Beyond firearms-related products, the company also offers a variety of soft goods in their Mountain Partisan product line, Shield Knife & Tool (SKT) knives, and even coffee in thee form of their SKALD blends. The company is devoted to providing quality products for shooters and is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment.
Shield Arms Z9 Magazine Offerings
The Z9 magazine offerings from Shield Arms are designed to be utilized with Glock 43 handguns. These magazines boast a superior ammunition capacity to the OEM Glock 43 magazines and feature a similar form factor. OEM Glock 43 magazines hold six rounds of 9mm Luger while Shield Arms Z9 magazines hold nine rounds of 9mm Luger. Magazines of this type feature impact resistant base pads which allow an end user to have a more complete grip when holding their pistol.
Â
Shield Arms S10 Magazine Offerings
The Shield Arms S10 magazines are designed to work with Glock 43X and Glock 48 firearms. These magazines, however, are not compatible with these firearms right out of the gate, some modification is required. Shooters wishing to employ these magazines in a Glock 43X or Glock 48 must have their grip chopped to accommodate these small 10 round magazines. These magazines hold the same capacity as OEM Glock 43X/48 magazines do in a smaller form factor. Shield Arms S10 magazines are compatible with a variety of accessories such as baseplates, extensions, and springs.
Â
Shield Arms S15 Magazine Offerings
Perhaps the most well-known product from Shield Arms, the S15 line of magazines is designed for use with Glock 43X and Glock 48 handguns. These magazines hold 15 rounds, boasting five more rounds than OEM Glock 43X/48 magazines while maintaining a similar form factor. As the company’s flagship product line, these magazines are available in a variety of combos and are supported by many accessories and other items. Notably, these magazines can be had in a variety of finishes such as black nickel, silver nickel, and QPQ finishes. These magazines essentially allow shooters to have capacity on par with a Glock 19 in a slimmer package.
Â
Grip Chop Service
Shield Arms offers a grip chop service for users who want to make their Glock 43X or Glock 48 pistols as concealable as possible. This modification allows shooters to utilize the S10 line of magazines offered by Shield Arms. The result is a compact package with a flush fitting magazine of 10 rounds. In addition to being compatible with the S10 line of magazines, chopped pistols can also make use of the S15 line of products offered by Shield Arms. These magazines can be accompanied by spacers which allow for a larger grip if one desires.
Â
Magazine Catch Caveat
The magazines offered by Shield Arms are constructed out of metal, a departure from the polymer bodies used by OEM Glock magazines. This metal construction allows for creative geometry which allows for higher capacities in small packages, something which is hard to achieve with polymer magazines. Metal magazines simply do not have to be as beefy as polymer ones to achieve rigidity and durability. One thing to keep in mind is that metal magazines, like those offered by Shield Arms, are not designed to be used with the polymer magazine catches featured in factory Glocks. Additionally, it is not recommended that one uses factory Glock magazines with these metal magazine catches. Doing so can lead to increased and accelerated wear on the softer polymer magazine body.
Other Offerings
Beyond magazine offerings, the company also offers a variety of other products. The company offers a variety of complete firearms which range from customized slimline Glock handguns to AR-15s manufactured by Shield Arms. Besides complete firearms, Shield Arms also offers their Folding Lower Receiver among other lower receiver offerings for AR-15s. Of course, the company offers many accessories for their magazine offerings. These magazine accessories include spacer sleeves, pouches, different baseplates, and extensions which boost a magazine’s capacity.
Â
Conclusion
All in all, the high-quality products produced by Shield Arms are innovative and can be employed by shooters of all types. This is especially true for their magazine offerings which have become quite popular with concealed carriers since their introduction in 2017. These magazines serve as reliable magazines which provide the end user with higher ammunition capacities than factory magazines.
