Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy are going to be talking all about Nosler. The company has persisted for decades and has established itself as a reputable manufacturer of ammunition. Our goal here is to provide a brief overview of the company and some of their traits and offerings. Without further ado, let’s get into it.
Nosler was founded in 1948 by John A. Nosler and is based in Bend, Oregon. The company gained prominence with their Partition and Ballistic Tip bullets, providing potent performance with high-quality loaded ammunition. The projectiles developed by Nosler have been utilized by other companies such as Federal for some of their specialty loadings as well. While the company acquired its reputation as a manufacturer of ammunition, Nosler also offers rifles and sound suppressors.
The company produces a wide variety of ammunition which encompass handgun and rifle calibers. Everything from 9mm Luger to .416 Remington Magnum is produced by Nosler. Whether you’re hunting, precision target shooting, or looking for something for self-defense, the company offers a variety of loads to fit these use cases and more.
Nosler loads ammunition for a variety of use cases. While common projectile options such as jacketed hollow point (JHP) offerings exist, the company also offers a variety of specialized projectiles. Accupoint, Expansion Tip, and Ballistic Tip projectiles are offered by Nosler which are specifically suited for use in hunting or target shooting applications.
In addition to selling ammunition, Nosler also offers components such as brass and projectiles. As far as brass goes, the company offers premium brass and bulk unprepped/unprimed forms. When it comes to projectiles, one can browse the many specialty offerings from Nosler in a variety of grain weights. From Accupoint to Ballistic Tip projectiles and ready-to-load brass, Nosler even has you covered if you prefer to roll your own.
Besides producing various established calibers, Nosler has also introduced some unique calibers of their own. A number of calibers have been produced by Nosler such as the .28 Nosler and .30 Nosler cartridges. Many of the cartridges have been designed to be optimal for use in hunting or precision shooting applications, often seeking to improve upon the established casings they are based upon. Something to note is that there are fewer firearms available in these homebrew Nosler calibers than there are in contemporary, common calibers.
Nosler also offers a variety of firearms in pistol and rifle form. The sole handgun offered by the company is the Model 48 Independence, a bolt action pistol which is essentially a pistol version of one of their Model 48 rifles. Aside from their Model 48 offerings, other rifle offerings include the Model 21 and Carbon Chassis Hunter rifles. Most of the firearms are produced for hunting applications and are optimized for this use with lightweight components such as barrels and stocks.
Multiple suppressors are available for purchase through Nosler. At the time of writing, five suppressor options bear the Nosler name and are available in your choice of black or gray. Of the five suppressors, two are full-auto rated – the SR-22Ti and the SR-30Ti. The SR-22 line will accommodate .17-.224 cal projectiles while the SR-30 line covers the .17-.308 cal range. As far as materials go, suppressors with “Ti” in the model name will be constructed wholly from titanium while those with “ALTi” are comprised of aluminum and titanium.
At the end of the day, Nosler provides high-quality ammunition, firearms, and suppressors. The company makes a wide variety of ammunition that will suit a variety of end users. Whether you buy Nosler ammunition or anything else, we here at True Shot have you covered. As always, happy shooting.
