    TelaAmmo: What is It?

Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy want to go over TelaAmmo. This line of ammunition provides AK shooters with two offerings of their popular calibers. Our goal with this blog post is to go over the company and the ammunition offerings in the TelaAmmo line. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

    What is TelaAmmo?

TelaAmmo is a brand name of ammunition imported by Tela-Impex. The company is based in Hallandale, Florida and was founded by a U.S. Army combat veteran. Tela-Impex essentially imports and engages in wholesale ammunition sales. The company imports a wide range of products from countries such as Azerbaijan and Turkey. The Turkish ammunition imported and sold by Tela-Impex falls under the brand of Sterling and is manufactured by Turan. As stated above, the main focus of this blog post is going to be the rifle ammunition imported and offered under the company’s TelaAmmo line.

    Where is TelaAmmo Ammunition Made?

Ammunition imported under the TelaAmmo brand is manufactured in Azerbaijan. Most imported ammunition intended for AK rifles and similar Soviet designs will hail from former Eastern Bloc countries. This is mainly due to the fact that factories from the Cold War era are still operational and have been repurposed for commercial ammunition production. Locations of production can potentially change due to sanctions and other potential factors which may impact importation.

    Is TelaAmmo Corrosive?

The 5.45×39 and 7.62×39 ammunition under the TelaAmmo brand are not corrosive. The loadings in question utilize Berdan primers, a type of primer often associated with corrosive ammunition. While it is true that most corrosive primers tend to be of the Berdan variety, not every Berdan primer is going to be corrosive. That being said, one can rest assured that the 5.45×39 and 7.62×39 TelaAmmo offerings are not corrosive and will not run the risk of eroding the bore of your rifle.

    Is TelaAmmo Steel Cased?

The TelaAmmo 5.45×39 and 7.62×39 ammunition offerings feature steel cases. The use of steel casings was common in Eastern Europe, particularly in Warsaw Pact countries. Steel casings are also easier and cheaper to produce than their brass counterparts, making them commonly utilized for military loadings. Steel cased ammunition is a long-standing staple for AK shooters. It should be known that steel cases are impractical, difficult, and not cost effective to reload.

    Ammunition Offerings

Currently, the ammunition imported under the TelaAmmo brand will be 5.45×39 and 7.62×39. The 5.45×39 loadings will feature 65 grain projectiles and come in 30 round boxes or in cases of 1,500 rounds. The individual boxes coming with 30 rounds makes it easy to load magazines efficiently as one box of ammunition will fill a standard capacity AK-74 magazine. The TelaAmmo 7.62×39 loadings will be available in 20 round boxes or in the form cases containing 1,000 rounds. The 7.62×39 ammunition offered by TelaAmmo will feature 124 grain projectiles. Essentially, ammo in this line will be available in both individual and bulk quantities and is representative of mainstream loadings in the calibers.

What Do You Use TelaAmmo For?

The offerings under the TelaAmmo brand are best used for general plinking and training. The full metal jacket (FMJ) loadings are well-suited for general purpose range use. The affordable cost of ammunition and availability of bulk quantities make TelaAmmo offerings even better for training and plinking usage. Simply put, the rounds are optimized for general range use and can be acquired in quantities which will allow for long and fruitful days at the range.

All in all, ammunition under the TelaAmmo brand is definitely worth your attention. The non-corrosive 5.45×39 and 7.62×39 ammunition offerings can be enjoyed by AK owners of both the 47 and 74 variety. TelaAmmo offerings are a great supplement to the supply of these calibers in the United States. 1. I’m always looking for inexpensive ammo for volume shooting. I was very disappointed to see Wolf ammo fade from the market. If this stuff can be had in bulk at reasonable prices I will buy it. I will soon try 7.62×39 but am currently looking for 9mm. Wolf was available in.300 blackout, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x54rR, and others. Will follow this product line closely.
