Sellier & Bellot Ammo
Popular Ammo Offerings from Sellier & Bellot
- 9mm:The 9mm Luger cartridge is easily the most common handgun round in common use. The caliber goes by many names, often being referred to as 9mm NATO, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19mm, or just generically β9mmβ. The cartridgeβs origins can be traced back to the early 20th century and is the brainchild of Georg Luger. Originally found in firearms such as the Borchardt C-93 and the P-08 Luger pistol, the round has become a common chambering for handguns in civilian and military use from the 20th century onward. Firearms such as pistols and submachine guns in 9mm Luger have commonly been used by military and law enforcement personnel across the globe, leading to the round establishing a reputation for being a reliable service cartridge.
- .300 Blackout:The .300 Blackout cartridge has enjoyed popularity for nearly two decades. This intermediate cartridge was developed by Advanced Armament Corporation in 2009 and provides shooters with versatile supersonic and subsonic loadings. The round was designed to be utilized in M4/AR-15 style firearms and utilizes STANAG type magazines. An initial motivation for the development of the round was to potentially replace the current 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge. The round features a tame recoil impulse and low back pressure. These traits make it a favorite among suppressed shooters as one can achieve near βHollywood quietβ suppression when the right loading, suppressor, and firearm come together.
- 12 Gauge:Since the mid-1800s, shotgun shells have come in a variety of forms and utilized different types of materials. Common shotgun shell materials have included brass, paper, and plastic. These cartridges feature distinct rims and are of a cylindrical, straight-walled nature. These shells usually feature some form of crimping or sealing to contain the payload they carry. Some loadings such as birdshot and buckshot feature substantial crimping shells while some feature caps or minimal, rolled crimping to contain something like a slug. 12 gauge ammunition can be found in various styles and forms, often tailored towards specific use cases. These types of loadings can come in a variety of lengths such as 2.75,β 3β, and 3.5β shotshell sizes. Naturally, the larger shells feature larger payloads and generally yield a more significant recoil impulse.
Common Sellier & Bellot Bullet Types
- Full Metal Jacket (FMJ):Like the name suggests, these types of loadings feature projectiles which are adorned with metal jacketing. This jacket is generally made of copper and will cover the tip and sides of the projectile. Typically, the base of the projectile is left uncoated. These types of loadings are well-suited for range use and are some of the most common types of ammo one will encounter.
- eXergy:These loadings feature Sellier & Bellot's advanced hunting bullets designed for enhanced energy transfer and reliable terminal performance on big game. Developed by the Czech manufacturer as part of their premium hunting ammunition line, the eXergy bullet incorporates a polymer tip with an engineered expansion cavity that promotes controlled mushrooming and maximum energy dump upon impact. The eXergy design emphasizes rapid expansion and energy transfer while maintaining adequate penetration for effective performance on medium to large game animals. These types of loadings are well-suited for big game hunting applications where maximum energy transfer, reliable expansion, and consistent terminal performance are essential for ethical and effective harvesting of game animals.
- Soft Point (SP):SP loadings feature soft, exposed lead projectile tips which are conducive to expanding upon impact. These loadings are mainly utilized in hunting applications and are effective at imparting a high degree of kinetic energy transfer. Specialty SP loadings also exist which are optimized for different types of hunting and game.
- XRG:These loadings feature Sellier & Bellot's solid copper XRG bullets which are designed for reliable expansion and enhanced terminal performance in defensive handgun applications. Developed by Sellier & Bellot specifically for self-defense use, the XRG bullet incorporates an engineered hollow point cavity and optimized jacket design that promotes rapid, controlled expansion upon impact while maintaining adequate penetration for effective stopping power. The XRG design emphasizes consistent expansion characteristics and reliable terminal performance across various defensive scenarios and impact velocities. These types of loadings are well-suited for self-defense and personal protection applications where reliable expansion, consistent terminal performance, and effective stopping power are essential for threat neutralization and personal safety.
