Do These Companies Make Steel Cased Ammunition?

Some of these companies do make steel cased ammunition. This is typically done as a cost cutting measure. Steel cases may also be used by companies in former Soviet states due to the prevalence of these casings and tooling to work with them in these areas. Steel cased ammunition will typically be accompanied by steel core projectiles. These types of loadings are typically not allowed to be used at outdoor ranges or indoor ranges. There are steel cased ammunition variants which are range friendly however. Magtech steel 9mm Luger and Maxxtech “Not From Russia” (NFR) loadings are examples of range friendly steel cased ammunition. While steel cases are present on both of these loadings, the actual projectiles are steel-free.

Can You Get Ammunition From These Companies in Bulk Quantities?

One can acquire bulk quantities of ammunition from these companies in various forms. Typically, one will encounter case quantities of handgun ammunition in 1,000 round quantities. Companies such as Maxxtech and PMC offer ammunition in a variety of different quantities. Typically, something like Maxxtech 9mm Luger can be acquired in individual boxes, 500 round quantities, and case quantities of 1,000 rounds. PMC offers handgun and rifle calibers in 1,000 round case quantities as well as in Battle Pack form.

Battle Packs will contain less ammunition than an entire case, typically ranging from 200 to 300 rounds or so depending on the specific caliber. These less-than-case quantities allow an end user to have a higher quantity of ammunition ready to go in a package which is easy to take to the range. At the end of the day, these brands have you covered when it comes to supplying you with both smaller and bulk quantities of ammunition.

Versatility of Ammunition Offerings

A number of the brands on this list manufacture a wide variety of loadings. For example, PMC, Sellier & Bellot, Federal, and Aguila manufacture both FMJ and JHP loadings. This means that an end user can effectively train and carry ammunition from the same manufacturer. Many companies make ball ammo intended to closely match defensive ammunition they produce. This allows an end user to familiarize oneself with a loading nearly identical to the ammunition they are trusting their life to.

While this is not an exhaustive list by any means, these happen to be some of the best ammunition brands that we carry. There are many other quality brands that we carry which were not mentioned on this list. Narrowing things down to just ten brands was no easy task. We here at True Shot recommend and endorse these brands as well as the others that we carry.
