About B&T
Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy are going to go over B&T today. The company is well-known among shooters for their variety of premium product offerings. We are going to delve into the company’s history, product offerings, and more in this blog post. Without further ado, let’s talk about B&T.
Who is B&T?
B&T, formally known as Brugger & Thomet, is a well-known Swiss manufacturer of firearms and components. The company was originally founded in 1991 and has developed and produced numerous firearms, components, accessories, and suppressors. Notably, the company produces pistols, rifles, submachine guns, and even grenade launchers as far as small arms go. The company has notably collaborated with other industry forces such as Surefire, Aimpoint, and Heckler & Koch (HK).
Since its debut in 1991, B&T has grown exponentially and designed and developed many products. While the company’s initial focus was on developing suppressors for the Swiss market, B&T eventually expanded into firearms and other components. By 2005, B&T achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification and began exhibiting a trend of upward growth. Notably, by 2017, the company had vastly expanded its research and development capacities and reported 70 employees.
While the company is incredibly popular in Europe, B&T has also garnered a great deal of attention in the United States. Notably, the company was awarded the U.S. Army’s first major submachine gun contract since the “M3 Grease Gun” with their APC9K. Additionally, the company has a domestic presence in the form of B&T USA in Tampa, Florida. This American presence is responsible for importing the many products produced by B&T.
Where are B&T Products Made?
B&T products are currently produced in Switzerland at the company’s main facility. As mentioned above, these Swiss-made offerings are brought into the United States by B&T USA in Tampa, Florida. The facility in Switzerland features 17 CNC machines for production in addition to 9 workstations intended for prototyping. These machines and workstations facilitate the design, development, and production of the various products offered by B&T. In short, B&T designs, produces, and assembles their high-quality offerings in-house at their facility in Thun, Switzerland.

B&T Handgun Offerings
B&T, like many firearms manufacturers, currently produces handguns. As of now, the company currently offers their Station Six bolt action pistols for sale. These handguns are available in
9mm and
.45 ACP, allowing them to appeal to a wide range of shooters thanks to their common chambering. Notably, these handguns feature integral suppressors and serve as modern renditions of the classic Welrod pistol employed by the SOE and OSS during World War II.
The Station Six pistols offered by B&T are not actually the company’s first foray into offering a modern Welrod analogue. In 2014, B&T produced a similar style firearm in the form of the VP9, or Veterinary Pistol 9mm Like the name suggests, these pistols were requested by a customer who desired a silent and humane tool for dispatching sick animals. After the initial 25 pistols were delivered to the customer, B&T found that there was commercial interest in the design and introduced the Station Six in 2021.
The Station Six pistols offered by B&T are some of the quietest centerfire handguns on the market. This is due to the Welrod style bolt action design and use of an integral suppressor. The bolt action system eliminates the noise that would be generated by the reciprocating action of a conventional handgun. Additionally, the integral suppressor utilizes a wipe design and is effective at dampening the report of the firearm, especially when paired with appropriate subsonic ammunition.
B&T Subgun Offerings
The semi-automatic subgun and pistol caliber carbine (PCC) type firearms offered by B&T are their most visible and common firearm offerings. These types of firearms can be had in the form of pistols, rifles, and short barrel rifles. This category of firearms encompasses a wide range of designs, representing both B&T designs and their takes on iconic, established designs. These designs include the some of the company’s popular semi-automatic subguns such as their APC, GHM, and TP9/380 offerings.
The APC, or Advanced Police Carbine, offerings from B&T can be had in a variety of calibers and configurations. Like most subguns, APCs can be had in either standard or short “K” configurations. Some of these offerings come equipped with tri-lug mounts which facilitate easy suppressor attachment. Additionally, some offerings can be found with integral suppressors. APCs are available in either proprietary, Glock magazine, or Sig magazine compatible form and with a variety of stocks.
B&T GHM offerings are notable for their relatively affordable nature when compared to the APC line of products. The “GHM” in the name is short for “grasshopper mouse,” an iconic rodent in the American Southwest which is notable for preying on scorpions. This naming convention is a tongue-in-cheek joke from B&T about how they intend for the GHM to be a CZ Scorpion killer. Like the APC, the GHM can be had in various lengths and with magwells compatible with the same types of magazines.
The TP9/TP380 offerings from B&T represent the company’s revision of the iconic Steyr TMP submachine gun. Like the name suggests, these firearms are available in either
9mm or
.380 ACP. Notably, these firearms can accept the same proprietary magazines that APC and GHM offerings can, simplifying magazines across B&T designs. These small subguns can easily be outfitted with vertical grips and folding stocks which improve ergonomics and retain a compact form factor.
B&T Rifle Offerings
In addition to their handgun and subgun offerings, B&T also manufactures and produces a variety of rifles. These rifles span both semi-automatic and bolt action offerings of B&Ts original design. Most notably, these offerings include the company’s rifle caliber APC offerings and bolt action designs like the APR and SPR. Like the other offerings from B&T, their rifles can be had in many configurations and are well-suited for suppression.
The APC line of firearms from B&T also includes rifle caliber offerings in addition to the aforementioned pistol caliber offerings. Rifle caliber APC offerings from B&T encompass popular calibers such as
5.56,
.308, and
.300 Blackout. Like their pistol caliber counterparts, these offerings are available in various sizes, stock options, and styles encompassing full length offerings to short barrel rifle offerings. Additionally, these firearms retain the ambidextrous controls of their pistol caliber counterparts.
B&T’s APR, or Advanced Precision Rifle, offerings represent the company’s precision bolt action rifle designs. These rifles are available in popular calibers such as .308,
.338 Lapua, and, as of 2024, the new
8.6 Blackout cartridge. APR rifles from B&T are optimized for precision and are available with either long traditional barrels or in short barreled form with integral suppressors. B&T APR offerings allow users to make accurate shots and are well-suited to suppression, whether integral or via a traditional suppressor.
The SPR, or Suppressed Precision Rifle, line from B&T is designed for optimal suppression. SPR offerings are available chambered in .300 Blackout and in either pistol or rifle form. B&T SPR offerings feature short, integrally suppressed barrels which provide effective suppression and a high accuracy potential. Notably, the SPR is designed to be taken down and reassembled expediently while eliminating any perceived shift in zero. The end result is a covert and compact rifle that is quiet and handy.
B&T Suppressor Offerings
Beyond firearms, B&T also notably designs and produces a wide range of suppressors. Throughout the company’s history, B&T has been contracted by manufacturers, specialized units, and end users to develop suppressors. Often times, these suppressors were designed for specific use cases or firearms. For example, B&T produces specific suppressors for use with FN P90/PS90 flash hiders and firearms such as the HK UMP45. Currently, B&T produces a wide range of pistol and rifle suppressors for various use cases ranging from tactical applications to hunting and recreational shooting.

Other B&T Offerings
While most known for their firearm and suppressor production and development, B&T also produces a wide range of firearm accessories and components. These products include things such as stocks, mounts, magwells, grips, and extended controls to name a few. Notably, the company produces many accessories for established designs such as the MP5 with such as handguards, optic mounts, and stocks. Additionally, the company also sells USW style conversion kits for handguns from Glock and Sig Sauer which allow end users to convert their handguns into PDWs.
Conclusion
All in all, B&T offers a wide range of high-quality products which appeal to shooters of all types.
