About OMPC Ammo
Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy are going to talk about
OMPC ammo today. The company has recently entered the American ammunition market and offers loadings for many popular calibers. Today we are going to delve into the company’s background, explore their product offerings, and more. Without further ado, let’s go over
OMPC ammo.
Who is OMPC?
OMPC, or
Oman Munition Production Company, is an Oman-based entity that produces a wide range of goods. These goods encompass military and defense-oriented products. Offerings include everything from artillery to small arms munitions. As such, the company currently produces products for domestic military and defense industry use as well as export purposes. This is to say that the company’s ammunition is becoming established in the global market and is trusted for martial use.
Where is OMPC Ammunition Made?
Like their name suggests,
OMPC ammunition is produced in the Sultanate of Oman. The company’s Oman-based facility features a wide range of tooling and machinery conducive to mass production of ammunition. Notably, this facility has earned an ISO 9001 certification, a testament to their quality of manufacturing, production processes, and safety.

OMPC Handgun Caliber Offerings
As a producer of small arms ammunition, the company manufactures handgun ammo. At this point in time, the company’s handgun caliber offerings are limited to
9mm ammo only.
9mm ammunition from
OMPC comes in the form of full metal jacket (FMJ) loadings in 115 or 124 grain weights. Notably, these two grain weights are the most common and popular as far as
9mm ammo goes.
These brass cased offerings are well-suited for training, plinking, and competition use cases. 9mm ammo from OMPC is suitable for use in various handguns and pistol caliber carbines (PCC) offerings on the market. The 9mm ammo from OMPC is loaded to NATO specifications, making it reliable for use by professionals and private end users alike.
OMPC Rifle Caliber Offerings
Beyond handgun ammunition,
OMPC also produces rifle caliber ammunition. Notably, there are more rifle caliber offerings produced by OMPC than handgun ammo offerings. Currently, OMPC produces various loadings for
5.56 and
7.62 NATO, two popular rifle calibers. Both calibers are available in various forms ranging from traditional offerings to blanks and are loaded to NATO standards.
5.56 ammo can be had in many forms which range such as M193, SS109, and tracer loadings.
OMPC 5.56 ammo is available in FMJ and hollow point boat tail (HPBT) form and in various grain weights.
5.56 grain weights include 55 grain, 62 grain, and 69 grain offerings. As far as 7.62 NATO offerings go, FMJ, HBPT, and tracer rounds can be had. Popular offerings include their M80 ball and 168 grain “sniper” offering.
OMPC Bulk Ammo Offerings
Notably, shooters will find that
OMPC ammo, like other offerings, can be had in various
bulk ammunition offerings. Many of these offerings can be had in the form of metal
ammo cans which totally and safely contain ammo. This is to say that shooters can acquire bulk 5.56 ammo from
OMPC in the form of bulk ammo cans. These offerings allow end users to easily stock up on
ammunition for the range or to supplement an existing supply.
Is OMPC Ammo Corrosive?
In some cases, imported
ammunition can be corrosive in nature. These types of loadings typically feature corrosive Berdan primers and hail from former Soviet states or Eastern European nations. Of course, this is not to say that all Berdan primers are corrosive in nature. Luckily, this is not the case with
OMPC ammunition as there are zero corrosive components in their loadings.
Both pistol and rifle loadings from
OMPC feature Boxer primers rather than Berdan primers. These are beneficial due to their consistent sizing and quality in addition to the fact they are non-corrosive. This is to say that shooters of
OMPC ammo will not need to worry about potential corrosion.

Is OMPC Ammo Range Safe?
As far as range safe loadings go, a considerable number of
OMPC loadings can be considered range safe. These loadings will be of the FMJ and HPBT variety. Projectiles of these types feature lead cores and will not attract magnets and run afoul of range restrictions. This is to say that they do not carry the fire risk or potential to damage range equipment that steel core loadings have.
Loadings such as tracers and steel core SS109 loadings are not considered range safe. SS109 OMPC loadings attract magnets and carry with them potential fire and range damage risks for indoor and outdoor ranges. In short, there are multiple range safe offerings from OMPC which are easily discerned from their non-range safe counterparts.
Is OMPC Ammo Reloadable?
Due to the use of brass casings and Boxer primers,
OMPC ammo has the potential to be reloaded. Brass casings are significantly easier to work with than their steel counterparts. Unlike steel casings, brass casings are more malleable and can be reshaped easier if necessary. Steel casings are also much harder on reloading tools and components than brass casings are.
Additionally, the use of Boxer primers is a benefit to prospective reloaders. Unlike Berdan primers, Boxer primers adhere to established sizing conventions. Reloaders can take advantage of consistent sizing and efficiently reload the Boxer primed casings from
OMPC ammo easily. In short, one can expect to reload
OMPC ammunition as long as casings are recoverable and have not been subjected to excessive firing.
