The importance of convenience cannot be understated, particularly when it comes to optics that are designed to be compatible with pistols. Rapid target acquisition has emerged as a crucial element for survival in various scenarios, ranging from military battlegrounds to everyday carry, ever since the dominance of ball, barrel, and powder in small arms conflicts worldwide. Over the past decade, a new generation of compact sighting systems has emerged, including reflex sights, holographic sights, and red dot sights. There are many leading brands within the realm of red dot sights, one of them is Holosun.

Origins of Holosun

Holosun Optics was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in California, USA. The company was established with the goal of providing shooters with cutting-edge optic solutions that offer excellent performance and value for the price. Despite being a relatively young company, Holosun quickly made its mark in the industry by introducing a range of feature-rich and reliable red dot sights. The company's name, "Holosun," is derived from the combination of "holography" and "sun." This name reflects the company's commitment to utilizing holographic technology while incorporating solar-powered systems in their optics. Holosun has been at the forefront of integrating solar panels into their sights, enabling the devices to harness natural and artificial light to power the reticle and extend battery life.

What Company Owns Holosun?

While some optic companies are solely owned or owned by a bigger corporation, Holosun is owned by a company named Rua Foireann Inc. This is a Canadian-based company founded in 2014. While Holosun is headquartered in California and their product design takes place in the United States, their manufacturing operations are primarily located in China. Regardless of what Holosun claims, this is purely for cost reasons. For some shooter, this might be a deal breaker. However, many of the top optic manufacturers like Sig Sauer and Vortex are also made in China.

Many people get confused on the term "cut" for sight patterns. In the red dot optic industry, the term "cut" typically refers to the specific shape or pattern of the mounting interface on a firearm or an optic. The cut determines the compatibility and fitment of a red dot optic onto a particular firearm's slide or mounting system. When referring to a red dot optic's compatibility with different cuts, it means that the optic is designed to fit and mount directly onto firearms with specific mounting interfaces or cuts. This ensures that the optic aligns correctly with the firearm's bore and maintains proper zero and functionality. So to answer the question, yes, the Holosun models 407/507/508 / 509 (NON-K MODELS) share the Trijicon RMR mounting pattern and will mount to an RMR cut slide or mount.
