Olight Osight.
Who is Olight?
Olight is a company that primarily produces flashlights and other illumination devices. Their new
Osight represents their first venture into
optics manufacturing. The company’s roots can be traced back to their founding in 2007. The company is headquartered in China and established a U.S.-based subsidiary in 2016. Since their inception nearly two decades ago, the company has expanded their manufacturing capabilities and product offerings. Tactical flashlight product offerings from the company have expanded and grown to meet customer requests and demand. Essentially, the brand has been growing exponentially since their inception and continue to develop and offer affordable lighting solutions.

The Olight Osight
As mentioned above, the
Olight Osight represents the company’s first foray into the world of
optics. The
optic comes in the form of a micro red dot sight, a style of sight commonly found on pistols these days. In addition to being used on handguns, the
Osight and other red dots of this type can be utilized on a variety of different firearms such as rifles, shotguns, and subguns. Additionally, these types of red dots are often employed in a piggyback or offset style capacity to supplement a higher magnification
optic. The
Osight features a large window with a 3 MOA reticle, providing the shooter with a generous field of view and easily tracked reticle.
What Mounting Footprint Does the Olight Osight Use?
The
Olight Osight uses one of the most common mounting footprints in the industry, the RMR footprint. This means that any plates, mounts, or slides which accommodate red dot sights with this footprint will accept the
Olight Osight. Simply put, this sight can be used on a variety of firearms as long as an appropriate RMR footprint mount is utilized.
Automatic Brightness Adjustment and Brightness Settings
The sight is equipped with a light sensor which is utilized by the
Osight’s automatic brightness adjustment feature. The sight is capable of adapting the brightness of its reticle to different levels depending on the level of light in one’s current environment. If one does not wish to rely on the automatic brightness adjustment of the
optic, one can manually adjust the brightness of the sight. This can be done with the “+” and “-“ buttons on the side of the
optic to cycle through the 12 brightness settings. Ten of the settings are for daylight use while the remaining two are for night use. Additionally, the sight is also equipped with a lockout feature which allows the sight to remain at a fixed brightness level. This means that the brightness of the
optic will not be changed automatically or manually.
Motion Sensor
The
Osight is also equipped with a motion sensor which helps a user conserve battery life. The sight will turn itself off automatically if it does not detect movement for ten minutes. This same motion sensor will turn the
optic on once it detects movement, displaying the reticle at the last used brightness setting. Simply put, the sight will enter a dormant state after ten minutes of inactivity and can quickly be employed again once it detects movement.
Green Dot Option
While the model that we are offering has a 3 MOA red dot reticle,
Olight also offers a model with a green dot reticle. The green dot version of the
Olight Osight is essentially the same sight as the standard red dot version with the exception of a 3 MOA green dot reticle. Simply put, the
Osight can be had with either a red or green dot reticle.
Rechargeable Battery and Charging Cover
The
Olight Osight features an internal rechargeable battery and a magnetic charging cover. The charging cover utilizes the same magnetic charging capabilities as some of the company’s other products. Once placed over the sight, the hood will charge the
Osight and display the
optic’s charge level. The charging hood itself can be charged via an included USB-C cable. If the charging cover is fully charged, it can charge the
Olight Osight from a low battery state three times.
Olight states that the
Osight has a battery life of 70,000 hours when used at the lowest setting. The company also claims that the
optic will run for over 17 days at the highest brightness setting, a figure which extends to about 70 days with the charging cover.

Olight Osight Torque Specs
Torque specifications are very important when it comes to mounting
optics and
accessories.
Olight recommends 17 in-lbs of torque per screw when mounting the
Osight. By adhering to proper torque specifications, one will ensure that the
optic stays in place when mounted on your firearm.
Conclusion
All in all, the
Olight Osight represents a versatile and affordable
optic. The
Osight’s various features such as its rechargeable battery, common mounting footprint, and large window allow it to appeal to shooters of all types. Whether you are after an
