Since debuting to the public’s eyes at Shot Show 2023, shooters both recreational and competition focused have been eagerly waiting to get their hands on the all new Holosun 507 COMP. The new addition to the Holosun lineup was introduced as the first Holosun optic tailored to the competitive shooting scene, hence the designation “507
COMP”. In June of 2023 the optics started hitting the market in limited quantities making it even more important to dive into a comprehensive review of this product and laying out pros and cons as well as answer all the most important questions.
What is The Holosun 507 COMP Used For?
Specs
The Holosun 507 Comp features an impressive 1.1”x 0.87” objective lens and a plethora of reticle options for the shooter to choose from. Of these it totes a 2MOA dot, 8MOA circle, 20MOA circle, and 32MOA circle which can be toggled in a number of combinations depending on the look the shooter is going for. The Holosun 507 COMP is offered in 2 models, HS507COMP and HE507COMP-GR. HS507COMP is the base model with the red dot and the HE507COMP-GR features a green dot. Both models are made from 7075 aluminum. Despite the large size of the 507 COMP, it still takes the standard RMR footprint as pe usual for Holosun pistol optics. The optic takes a CR1632 battery and has a battery life of 50,000 hours. It should also be noted that the 507 COMP features Holosun’s Shake Awake Technology, however, this feature will likely not be utilized my competition shooters.
Pros
Price Point is a major factor that separates the Holosun 507 COMP from other popular competition optics. The HS507COMP has an MSRP for $435.00 while the HE507COMP-GR has an MSRP of $470.00, however, expect to see both being sold under the $400.00 mark. Other popular competition optics often go for $500-$700 respectively.
Holosun has been known for their
Reticle Options which they now bring to the competition scene. We will see if shooters orient to the standard dot, but history tells us that we will see a good amount of competitors taking advantage of the larger MOA circles.
The
Massive Lens of the 507 COMP makes for easy and fast target acquisition for all shooters. That large window also makes it much easier for the shooter to find the dot for fast and accurate follow up shots.
Cons
It is hard to point to a single con of the Holosun 507 COMP, but the only argument to date that can be made would be
lack of solar charging backup. This could be a double-edged sword, however, because may people would argue this is also a pro. The solar charging backup that Holosun has made very popular is a great feature for their optics many people are using on their carry guns or for LE and Military that benefit from a backup source of power. But for a competition pistol dot, which this is and likely will not be used on an EDC gun, there is really no need and the lack of reduces the price point significantly.

Should I Use The Holosun 507 COMP?
The Holosun 507 COMP has gained so much attention in the time since it has been announced and even with limited units on the market, has gained a reputation as a heavy hitter in the competition field. The pros on this product heavily outweigh any cons and for that reason should continue to excel as they saturate the market.
