Silencer Syndicate Suppressor Meltdown Test

Silencer Syndicate Suppressor Meltdown Test

Hey all, an affiliate of ours just put out an awesome two-part series of videos regarding suppressor meltdown. Rob Orgel of Silencer Syndicate recently put three non-full-auto rated suppressors to the test on a belt-fed machine gun to see how long they would last when subjected to sustained fire rates. The resulting two videos made for content that was both entertaining and informative, providing important information about the capability of titanium and Inconel suppressors of this type.

Suppressors Tested

Throughout the course of the video, three suppressors are put to the test. These three suppressors are notably not full-auto rated, meaning they are not designed to handle sustained strings of rapid fire.

  • KGM R6
  • Surefire 212 Mini
  • B&T Rotex 556 Ti

Two of the suppressors in this test group feature titanium construction while the remaining model features an Inconel construction. The KGM R6 and B&T Rotex 556 Ti utilize titanium in their construction while the Surefire 212 Mini utilizes Inconel.

Part One: The Meltdown

The first video in the series is all action. Part one of the suppressor meltdown series focuses on Rob employing an M249 SAW to test the three suppressors. Throughout the test, Rob makes use of the belt-fed machine gun’s quick change barrel system to switch between the three suppressors. This makes testing three suppressors easy as Rob would not need to change mounting hardware multiple times on one barrel to accommodate different units. Additionally, this allowed the test for each suppressor to be done with a fresh barrel, providing each suppressor with a fair shot. During the testing, one is able to see what happens to these test units as they heat up and begin to experience failure and erosion. For the full details, including close-up slow-motion shots, be sure to check out the full video.

Part Two: The Breakdown

The second part of the video series features an after-action report by Rob in which he describes the results of the suppressor testing process. This video is mainly conducted by Rob in front of an impressive wall of firearms with occasional cutaways to relevant parts of the test being sprinkled without. In this video, Rob clearly displays the three test suppressors in front of him as he speaks, showcasing the results of the test. Rob specifically details the malfunctions and round counts of each suppressor while describing the challenges of running these offerings on a belt-fed machine gun. During this section, Rob details some of the big takeaways of the testing, such as the point at which failure occurs and the surprising longevity of the test units. But don’t just take our word for it, be sure to check out the full video for the full breakdown.
