Where is the LP-1 Made?

The LP-1 is ultimately assembled domestically at the company’s Ohio location. At this point in time, the optic features high quality Japanese glass and a housing produced in Hong Kong. While these components are of overseas origin, the R&D for the optic was done in the United States by Lead & Steel. Notably, the company has stated that they wish to bring production of components such as their housings stateside. In short, this American-designed optic utilizes a number of quality foreign-made components and is assembled in the United States by Lead & Steel.

Mounting

As mentioned earlier, the LP-1 is compatible with 1913 rails. This allows users of LP-1 optics to easily mount the unit on a variety of firearms due to the proliferation of picatinny/1913 spec rails. This makes it easy for one to mount the LP-1 on rifles, shotguns, or subguns easily. Due to this integral mount, one does not need to purchase additional mounting hardware to utilize the LP-1 optic. The mount on the LP-1 features a quick-release mechanism which allows for rapid donning and doffing.

Brightness Settings

The Lead & Steel LP-1 red dot sight features multiple brightness settings. In total, the LP-1 has 10 different brightness settings which are easily adjusted by the end user. 7 of these settings are intended for day use while the remaining 3 are dedicated night vision settings. The 7 daylight bright reticles allow an end user to consider multiple brightness options for their type of shooting. As a boon to night vision users, the 3 dedicated night vision settings on the optic which can be used when passive aiming. Brightness is adjusted via the two buttons located on the left side of the optic body.

Battery Life

The LP-1 is powered by a single CR123A battery which is retained in a battery compartment on the right side of the optic. This battery compartment features a slotted cap which is easily removed by a screwdriver or coin. Lead & Steel states that the optic has a potential runtime of over 50,000 hours on brightness setting 5 with the 2 MOA dot reticle. This battery life becomes 30,000 hours when the CQB oriented reticle is used. The simple 2 MOA reticle aids in prolonging the runtime as reticles of this type draw less power than more complex reticles. In short, the LP-1 is an energy-efficient red dot which utilizes a common battery. LP-1 Red Dot Sight Purchase Lead & Steel LP-1

Lead and Steel offers AuraWake technology in their LP-1 red dot sight. Rather than entirely shutting off the reticle after a period of inactivity, the reticle only partially shuts down. The 65 MOA ring of the reticle will turn off while the 2 MOA dot at the center remains on. This serves as a means to preserve battery life while also retaining a degree of readiness. This feature is present on the Promethean LP-1 red dot sights due to their intended use as duty optics.
