Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy are going to go over
Fostech today.
Fostech is a well-known company within the firearms industry which produces a variety of products. Our goal with this blog post is to provide a brief overview of the company while delving into some of their traits and product offerings. Without further ado, let’s talk
Fostech.
What is Fostech?
Fostech is an American manufacturer of firearms based in Seymour, Indiana. The company was founded in 2010 and is well-known known for producing components, accessories, and complete firearms.
Fostech is particularly well-known for their binary
trigger offerings and for producing the Origin-12 shotgun.

Trigger Offerings
Fostech is quite notable for their
trigger offerings. The company specifically offers binary
triggers, fire control groups capable of firing when the
trigger is pulled and fire a second time when the
trigger is released. These types of
triggers are not classified as fully automatic due to the fact that a single
trigger pull only fires a single round.
Fostech offers binary
triggers for popular firearm platforms such as the AR-15 and AK pattern rifles. The company’s two AR offerings, the
Echo Sport Trigger and
Echo AR II Trigger essentially perform the same function with the major difference being how one accesses the binary fire function. The
Echo Sport Trigger utilizes a paddle to change modes while the
Echo AR II Trigger utilizes a traditional style safety selector. These binary
trigger offerings essentially allow an end user of compatible firearms to increase their rate of fire.
AR-15/Rifle Offerings
Fostech produces many AR-15s in rifle configurations and a few short-barreled offerings configured as pistols. These rifles are available in a variety of colorways and finishes such as black, OD green, and Tungsten colors. Many of the rifles bear names which reference jet fighters such as the Raptor, Phantom, Eagle, and Tomcat. Most of the AR offerings from
Fostech utilize 16” barrels, while other lengths such as 4.5”, 7.5”, and 20” also being offered with certain configurations and calibers. The ARs offered by the company utilize binary
triggers produced by the company. These ARs are offered in calibers such as
5.56x45mm NATO,
9mm Luger,
.22 Long Rifle,
6.5 Grendel, and
.350 Legend. When it comes to the
.22 Long Rifle, the company offers both complete rifles in the caliber and complete uppers. Notably,
Fostech offers “Train and Shoot Combo” which bundles a
.22 Long Rifle upper with a complete
5.56x45mm NATO AR-15. This bundle allows an end user to utilize the two calibers to help build their skills and proficiency with nearly identical upper receiver groups. Beyond AR style offerings, the company also offers an AK style rifle borne from their collaboration with Kalashnikov USA. This particular AK offering is essentially Kalashnikov USA’s KR-103 rifle which has been fitted with
Fostech’s Echo AK
trigger and AK Sabre grip.
Handgun Offerings
The company also offers handguns for sale in the form of their
Fostech Drone Predator pistols chambered in
9mm Luger. These pistols are based upon the Sig Sauer P320 series of handguns and utilize Gold Sig Sauer Custom Shop FCUs. The frames of these pistols are the product of
Fostech’s collaboration with Grayguns, a notable presence in the industry when it comes to handguns. The slide is equipped with Tritium iron sights from Night Fision which are of the suppressor height variety, allowing them to be viewed through an optic. When it comes to optic mounting solutions, the slides will accommodate micro red dot sights which use the Trijicon RMR or Leupold Delta Point Pro mounting footprint without a mounting plate. The barrels utilized in these pistols are constructed from 416R stainless steel and feature 1/2-28 threads. These threads allow an end user to mount things such as a suppressor and are protected by a thread protector when not in use. The barrel is 3.9” and strikes a healthy balance between being compact for carry and being long enough for effective, practical accuracy. Major components such as slides, barrels, and frames/grip modules can be purchased separately if an end user was wanting to modify an existing P320 style handgun.
Shotgun Offerings
The Origin-12 shotgun is one of the most iconic offerings from
Fostech.
Fostech’s Origin-12 shotgun is a semi-automatic shotgun which utilizes detachable box magazines. As the “12” in the name suggests, the Origin-12 is a
12 gauge shotgun. Magazines can be found in stick form or in the form of drum magazines. The shotguns utilize the company’s patented infinite gas system which is user adjustable, allowing an end user to tune the shotgun for the ammunition they are using. Additionally, the shotgun is equipped with a quick-change barrel system, allowing an end user to easily swap between different barrels they may have. Origin-12 shotguns will typically feature an adjustable and foldable stock which can be tailored to fit different types of shooters and folded to make stowing the shotgun easy. A stretch of 1913 Picatinny rail runs across the top of the shotgun, allowing end users to equip the firearm with optical sights. The shotgun is currently available in a long barrel configuration, a short-barreled shotgun (SBS) configuration, and an AOW configuration. The SBS and AOW offerings are subject to NFA regulations and require more paperwork and effort to acquire than the standard, long barrel Origin-12 offering.

Other Offerings
Beyond complete firearm offerings and their
triggers,
Fostech offers a variety of other products. As mentioned earlier, the company sells complete upper receiver groups for use with ARs in addition to a variety of major pistol components. In addition to complete uppers,
Fostech also sells .22 Long Rifle AR conversion kits and magazines, allowing an end user to convert an existing rifle to fire the rimfire caliber.
Fostech also sells lower receivers in various forms of completion in addition to other components such as handguards and grips. The company also makes a 20 round
