About Atomic Ammunition
Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy wanted to talk about Atomic Ammunition. Our mission with this blog post is to provide a brief overview of the company while delving into some of their offerings. Without further ado, let’s get into it.
Who is Atomic Ammunition?
Atomic Ammunition was established in Phoenix, Arizona in 2011 and is a manufacturer of a wide variety of ammunition. Conventional loadings and specialty loadings are provided in both pistol and rifle caliber form. Currently, the company does not offer shotgun ammunition. The company also utilizes proprietary formulas and practices in their ammunition loading processes while also adhering to strict quality control practices.
Where is Atomic Ammunition Made?
As stated above, Atomic Ammunition produces ammunition in Phoenix, Arizona. The company utilizes ammunition components which are produced and supplied by American companies. Atomic Ammunition also utilizes independent test laboratories in the United States to test and verify their loadings. The end result is American-made ammunition produced in Phoenix, Arizona.
Ammunition Offerings
Atomic Ammunition manufactures a wide variety of popular pistol and rifle calibers. Common handgun calibers such as 9mm Luger, .40 Smith & Wesson, and .45 ACP are represented in their offerings in addition to less common calibers such as 10mm Auto and .44 Magnum. Rifle caliber offerings encompass popular calibers such as .223 Remington, 5.56x45mm NATO, .300 Blackout, and .308 Winchester to name a few. A variety of projectile types are offered on the ammunition produced by Atomic Ammunition. Jacketed hollow points (JHP), soft point (SP), and flat point (FP) projectiles are common in addition to specialty offerings from companies such as Sierra.
Defensive Ammunition
The company offers a variety of pistol caliber JHP loadings. These loads feature nickel plated brass cases which are conducive to reliable feeding and function. The calibers represented in this line range from 9mm Luger to .45 Colt and are generally available in 20 or 50 round quantities. As far as projectiles go, these hollow point projectiles are match grade and bonded, aiding in accuracy and reliable defensive performance.
Subsonic Ammunition
Atomic Ammunition also makes a variety of subsonic loadings for a variety of popular pistol and rifle calibers. The company claims that their subsonic loadings are “Hollywood quiet” and that they are America’s leading maker of subsonic ammunition. In addition to the more popular and contemporary cartridges in this line such as .300 Blackout and .45 ACP, Atomic Ammunition also offers a subsonic .30-30 Winchester loading. The company even produces a subsonic .308 Winchester loading which is advertised as being capable of cycling in a suppressed semi-automatic rifle. Subsonic ammunition can be had in quantities of 20 or 50 rounds per box.
Match/Target Ammunition
Additionally, the company also manufactures match/target loadings for a number of commonly used rifle calibers. Calibers range from .223 Remington to .308 Winchester, featuring high velocity loadings available in quantities of 20 or 50 rounds per box. These match loads will typically feature a hollow point boat tail or Sierra Tipped MatchKing (TMK), making them conducive to precision shooting.
Cowboy Action Ammunition
Atomic Ammunition also produces a variety of pistol caliber loadings in their Cowboy Action ammunition line. These loadings range from .38 Special, .44 Special, and .45 Colt and feature flat lead projectiles, making them at home in either a magazine tube or a cylinder. Offerings like these will be at home in Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) competitions as well as providing authentic style loadings for popular lever action rifles and single action revolvers. Ammunition in this line is offered in 50 round quantities.
Industrial Ammunition
Aside from producing ammunition intended for commercial sales, Atomic Ammunition also produces ammunition for use within the shooting industry. Particularly, the company produces their “industrial ammunition” to be used by firearms manufacturers for test fire purposes. Atomic Ammunition states that they have produced millions of proof and function rounds for multiple manufacturers. Currently, Atomic Ammunition is used by seven of the largest gun manufacturers in America when verifying the function of their pistols and rifles.
Quality Control
Atomic Ammunition adheres to strict quality control practices to ensure their products are safe and reliable. Rather than inspecting ammunition by polling random lots, Atomic Ammunition states that they inspect every round of ammunition they produce by hand. This quality control measure demonstrates an attention to detail not seen in conventional batch checking methods.
Conclusion
All in all, Atomic Ammunition provides a wide variety of ammunition which can be enjoyed by shooters of all types. Whether you’re after subsonic ammunition for your favorite suppressed pistol or some defensive loadings for your everyday carry, their ammunition lines have you covered. Whether you’re in the market for Atomic Ammunition or something else, we here at True Shot have you covered. As always, happy shooting.

How can you possibly inspect every round the man power to do this would be very difficult and expensive
Hello Gabe,
Thank you for your inquiry about the inspection process for Atomic Ammo, a brand we proudly carry at True Shot Ammo. It’s a great question, and I understand your concern about the feasibility of hand-inspecting every round.
Atomic Ammo’s claim of hand-inspecting each round is indeed a significant commitment to quality. While I don’t have specific details on their internal processes, companies that make such claims typically have stringent quality control systems in place. This often involves a combination of skilled personnel and specialized equipment. The process can be labor-intensive, but it’s a part of their commitment to delivering reliable and safe ammunition to their customers.
In general, thorough inspection processes, whether automated, manual, or a mix of both, are critical in the ammunition manufacturing industry. These inspections help ensure that each round meets strict standards for performance, safety, and reliability.
