In this blog post, we aim to provide a brief overview of the company while also delving into some of the products and services they offer. Now let’s get into it.
Buck Knives Background
The origins of the company we know today as Buck Knives can be traced back to 1902. Hoyt Buck was working as a blacksmith apprentice in Kansas when he began experimenting with steel tempering methods to better retain a knife’s edge. These initial Buck Knives were constructed handmade from raw material yielded by dulled file blades. The company would relocate to San Diego, California in 1945 and take the form of H.H. Buck and Son in 1945 when Al, Hoyt’s oldest son, got involved in the knife business.
More change would come when the company was incorporated by Al in 1961. Buck Knives Inc. would operate under Al and eventually his son, Chuck, for nearly the rest of the 20
th century. Chuck’s son, CJ, would take the reins in 1999 and continues to serve as the CEO, President, and Chairman of Buck Knives. The company remains under the ownership of the original Buck family, a tradition which has persisted for multiple generations now.
Today, the company offers a variety of knives, gear, and additional services which cater to a wide variety of customers. Presently, Buck Knives is based in Post Falls, Idaho and features a storefront and facility that is open to the public for free tours. It should be noted that their knives are backed by the company’s Forever Warranty for the life of the product.
