    Surprisingly Good Ammo

This is a surprisingly accurate and clean ammo! I ran abt 100 rounds through my Colt 16" upper that was initially zeroed in for the Israeli IMI M855 green tip ammo, and there was no POI shift whatsoever, unlike, say, Columbia or India made ammo that change your POI tremendously.

Can you advise if this is Berdan or Boxer primed?

    Customer Service

The FAMAE - Chilean Military Surplus - 5.56x45mm - 62 Grain FMJ is typically Berdan primed. Military surplus ammunition, especially from regions like Chile, commonly uses Berdan primers, as they are cost-effective for mass production and are not intended for reloading.
If you’re specifically looking for Boxer-primed ammunition for reloading purposes, this surplus may not be suitable. To confirm, you can check the primer pocket of a spent cartridge:
Berdan primers: Two small flash holes. Boxer primers: A single central flash hole.

What year was this ammunition produced?

    Customer Service

The specific production year for the FAMAE - Chilean Military Surplus - 5.56x45mm - 62 Grain FMJ Battle Pack can vary depending on the lot, as surplus ammunition often comes from older military stockpiles. Generally, this type of ammunition was produced during the 1990s or early 2000s, but exact details depend on the markings on the packaging or the headstamp on the cartridges.
If you have the packaging or cartridges, look for:
Headstamp markings: Often include a two-digit year (e.g., "95" for 1995). Lot information: May indicate the production batch and year.

    Are these steel core/LAP rounds?

    Customer Service

It says on their packaging that they are SS109, so yes, they are steel core/LAP. To be fair, 5.56 NATO LAP rounds are usually 62 grain in my experience.
