Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri, has produced small arms ammunition for the United States military since 1941, and its headstamp is one of the most recognized in the world. Ammunition built on the Lake City production line is manufactured to military specifications, with the case annealing, crimped primers and quality control that sustained combat use demands.
Lake City 7.62x51 147 Grain FMJ M80 is the standard NATO ball loading for the 7.62x51mm cartridge. The 147 grain full metal jacket bullet is the round that generations of M14 rifles, M60 and M240 machine guns and semi-automatic 7.62 rifles were built around, which means it matches the point of impact and gas system pressure most of those firearms were designed to handle. Lake City brass is thick and durable, well regarded by handloaders who value case life, and the crimped primer pocket keeps primers seated under the stress of automatic fire. For high-volume range work, training and general shooting in 7.62x51 or .308 pattern rifles, M80 ball remains a proven, economical choice.

Yes this real LC M80 ball the shoulders have various dents. It is obvious from the marks on the sides of the case it was originally linked ammo. Very pricey for what you get. I would purchase the PMC.
We’re sincerely apologize this wasn’t the experience you expected with the LC M80 ball. The dents and handling marks you mentioned are not what we want our customers receiving, and we understand your concern especially given the price point. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and will share this feedback with our team. Please feel free to call us at 888-736-6587 and we’d be happy to make this right.

I have been using LC ammunition for years. Good quality, very reliable. Stores good. I don’t have anything negative to say about it.

When you've trusted the same ammo for years and it never lets you down, that's about as strong of a recommendation as you can give. Have not had a chance to range test the ammo, but it looks great as well as the green metal ammo box. Plan on purchasing more in the near future.

is 308 the same as 762x51
Thanks for the question!
.308 Winchester and 7.62×51 NATO are very similar cartridges, but they are not exactly the same. They can often be used interchangeably in many modern rifles, however there are some differences in pressure standards and chamber specifications.
In general, 7.62×51 NATO is slightly lower pressure and is commonly safe to fire in a .308 Winchester chamber. Firing .308 Winchester in a 7.62 NATO chamber is where caution is more important, depending on the firearm and manufacturer guidelines.
We always recommend checking your rifle’s markings or owner’s manual to confirm compatibility before use.
