    Good enough

The shot spreads to fast but I fixed it by putting wax in the shell.

What are the correct number of #1 buckshot pellets in these 3 inch shells? Spec says nine pellets, but that is way low.

    Customer Service

A standard 2.75" 12-gauge shell loaded with #1 buckshot typically holds around 11-16 pellets, depending on the wad and powder load.
For Rio Royal Buck Home Defense (2.75"), the listed 9-pellet count seems low for #1 buck, as a 3-inch shell should generally hold 12-16 pellets of #1 buckshot. It’s possible that Rio designed this load for specific performance characteristics, such as reduced recoil or optimized pattern spread.

same question. why is the pellet count so low. id think itd be 12 to 15 in a 3" shell

    Customer Service

The description says their 2.75" shells.

A standard 2 ¾" 12-gauge shotgun shell typically holds 8-9 pellets of #00 buckshot, 12-16 pellets of #1 buckshot, or 21-28 pellets of #4 buckshot so 9 #1 buckshot pellets is still low for a 2.75" shell. Given that Rio Royal Buck in #00 and #4 pellets both have a velocity of 1325 fps I doubt that the velocity of 1250 fps is correct for Rio's #1 buckshot, it's probably 1325 fps also.

    Customer Service

    It's reduced recoil ammo.
