    Great target ammo!

I wasn’t expecting greatness at this price, but I have to say that I was impressed with the performance of this ammo. I fed 100 rounds of this through an AR-10 with zero malfunctions. This ammo shot cleaner and more consistent than several other inexpensive and more well known ammo brands I have used. I’ll definitely be picking up some more of this.

    Great ammo, great price

Overall I think it will work well. No issues with the ammo, but did have failures to eject and failures to feed, but I'm almost certain that it was due to adding a suppressor to my rifle and having excessive back pressure causing the bolt to cycle too quickly. After speaking with the gunsmith and trying 4 different types of ammo, they all had the same issue so I just need to adjust the gas block to account for the suppressor back pressure.

    Good product, good price

Good ammo. Shot it last Sunday to 200 yards with no issues (which is the longest range locally).

How well will your Brass cases cycle through a PTR/HK action??? I know PTR recommends steel case ammo but it’s getting hard to find a good quality supplier

    Customer Service

    Hey Kevin!
Thank you for your question. The Sterling .308 Win 147 Grain FMJ with brass cases is manufactured to high standards and should cycle effectively through a PTR/HK action, although PTR typically recommends steel case ammo. Brass cases generally offer smoother feeding and extraction compared to steel, which can be beneficial for maintaining your firearm’s condition over time.
However, every firearm can have unique characteristics, especially when it comes to ammo preferences. It might be a good idea to try a small quantity initially to see how well it cycles in your specific PTR/HK setup. If you encounter any issues or need further recommendations, don't hesitate to contact us directly at (888) 736-6587 or email sales@trueshotammo.com. We're here to support you in finding the best ammo for your needs!

Sterling's .308 Winchester ammunition with a 147-grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) bullet is a popular choice for target shooting and practice due to its consistent performance and affordability. Here's a general overview of its ballistic characteristics:

    Caliber: .308 Winchester
    Bullet Weight: 147 grains
Bullet Type: Full Metal Jacket (FMJ)

While specific ballistic data (like muzzle velocity, muzzle energy, and trajectory) can vary slightly depending on the specific lot or batch, you can expect:

Muzzle Velocity: Typically around 2,800 to 2,900 feet per second (fps)
    Muzzle Energy: Usually around 2,600 to 2,700 foot-pounds (ft-lbs)
Trajectory: This depends on the rifle and sight setup, but generally, you can expect around a 2-4 inch drop at 200 yards when zeroed at 100 yards.

These numbers can fluctuate based on factors such as barrel length, environmental conditions, and specific ammunition lot. For precise ballistic data, it's always best to consult the manufacturer's specifications or test the ammunition in your specific setup.

First, your description of the Sterling 308 is for steel cased 7.62x39. I do not see in the actual description whether the 308 is Boxer or Berdan primed. Assuming this is British ammunition is it berdan?
