STV - Patriot Sports - 223 Rem - 55 Grain - FMJ

The primary reason many of our 9mm, .223, and .40 caliber ammunition are listed as FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) for range use is to accurately categorize their intended purpose. Here's why:

FMJ Design Purpose:

FMJ rounds are typically designed for target practice and training because they are cost-effective, reliable, and do not expand on impact.
While they are not illegal for personal protection, they are not optimized for defensive scenarios because they lack the expansion and energy transfer characteristics of hollow-point or specialized defensive ammunition.

Adequacy for Personal Protection:

FMJ rounds can technically be used for self-defense in an emergency, but they pose risks like over-penetration (passing through the target and possibly hitting unintended objects or people). For personal defense, ammunition like hollow-point (HP) is preferred because it expands upon impact, reducing the risk of over-penetration and maximizing stopping power.

Compliance with Customer Understanding and Regulations:

Labeling ammo as "range use" ensures customers clearly understand the product's intended use and avoids confusion with defensive or tactical options.
Some states or jurisdictions have regulations regarding ammunition types for self-defense, and clearly indicating FMJ as "range use" helps avoid compliance issues.

Political Sensitivities:

True Shot Ammo prioritizes providing transparent and factual information about our products. Categorizing ammunition as "range use" isn't about appeasing any political group but ensuring customers have the right tools for their intended application.
