Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy are going to go over Veteran Ammo today. Our goal with this blog post is to provide a brief overview of the company while also delving into some of their traits and offerings. Now then, let’s talk about Veteran Ammo.
Veteran Ammo is an ammunition manufacturing brand under the umbrella of Hyperion Munitions. Hyperion Munitions is also the parent company of companies such as Garaysar, Operator Coffee, Oriskany Arms, Precision Trigger Control, and T6 Firearms. Veteran Ammo produces a wide variety of ammunition spanning multiple calibers.
Veteran Ammo products are manufactured in the United States. The company utilizes quality components when loading their ammunition. Casings from a wide variety of well-known manufacturers are used such as Blazer, Federal, Lake City, and Speer. Additionally, the company also utilizes Shell Shock NAS3 casings for some of their loadings.
The company offers both newly manufactured and remanufactured ammunition. The newly manufactured ammunition can be reloaded safely by the end user after it has been shot. Generally, remanufactured ammunition should not be reloaded as the casing has already been through the firing process once. Casings are subjected to a high degree of strain and stress when fired, making them more likely to fail when reloaded and subjected to the process again. Simply put, one should just shoot freshly loaded ammunition rather than attempting to reload remanufactured ammunition.
The company produces loadings for three of the most common and popular pistol calibers on the market. 9mm Luger, .40 Smith & Wesson, and .45 ACP are loaded by Veteran Ammo in a variety of loadings. These offerings can be found in full metal jacket (FMJ), total metal jacket (TMJ), jacketed hollow point (JHP), and solid copper hollow point (SCHP) varieties. Pistol ammunition offerings from the company are available in individual boxes of 20 or 50 rounds or as 500 round cases.
Veteran Ammo’s rifle ammunition offerings encompass a variety of popular calibers. Widely used intermediate rifle cartridges such as 5.56x45mm NATO and .300 Blackout are offered by the company. The .300 Blackout loadings offered by the company come in both supersonic and subsonic form, providing .300 Blackout shooters with options. Veteran Ammo also produces ammunition for larger rifle calibers such as .270 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and .300 Winchester Magnum to name a few.
When it comes to shotgun ammunition, Veteran Ammo produces 12 gauge and .410 gauge loadings. As far as these loadings go, the company produces birdshot, buckshot, and slugs. These loadings appeal to a wide variety of shooters and are appropriate for multiple use cases such as hunting, self-defense, and target shooting. Shotgun ammunition from Veteran Ammo comes in boxes of 25 rounds. While not as expansive as their pistol and rifle loadings, Veteran Ammo does provide commonly used, utilitarian loadings for shotgun use.
The FMJ and TMJ loadings from Veteran Ammo are well-suited for plinking use. These loadings will also be suitable for training due to their affordable and plentiful nature. The JHP and SCHP loadings are suitable for self-defense use due to their inclusion of hollow point projectiles. The SCHP offerings will also qualify as lead-free ammunition due to their solid copper projectiles. Veteran Ammo makes SCHP loadings optimized for both self-defense and hunting use. Hunters who face lead-free ammunition requirements will particularly appreciate these loadings from Veteran Ammo. Obviously, the subsonic loadings produced by the company will be appreciated by suppressor owners. At the end of the day, the ammunition offered by Veteran Ammo will serve a wide variety of end users.
Some of the offerings from Veteran Ammo utilize Shell Shock NAS3 casings. The “NAS” in the name of these casings refers to “nickel alloy stainless,” the material used in the case’s construction. These nickel alloy stainless steel cylinder is complimented by a nickel-plated aluminum base. These casings utilize a two-piece design in which the cylinder and base are two separate designs. Veteran Ammo states that these casings are capable of being reloaded over 100 times. Due to their design, these casings are resistant to splitting, chipping, cracking, and stretching when used.
All in all, the offerings produced by Veteran Ammo cover a wide variety of calibers and use cases. Shooters of all types can take advantage of some of the company’s ammunition offerings. Whether you are hunting, training, or need something for self-defense, Veteran Ammo has a loading for you. We here at True Shot Ammo carry Veteran Ammo in addition to the other ammunition we stock Regardless of whether you buy their ammunition or another brand’s, we have got you covered. As always, happy shooting.

Is this a veteran owned company?
Hello SGM (Ret) KW Garrett,
Yes, Veteran Ammo is a veteran owned and operated company.
This is great news, I’ve been waiting for a company like this for some time, I’ll be sure to throw them my business. I assume because of the name they are veteran owned?
