    Reliable and clean

Great ammo - I fired 5 boxes through my somewhat finicky Kimber 1911 and no misfire. Very clean burning, too.

    Excellent Quality Ammunition

Ammunition was clean, dry, and undamaged in the box. No problems loading into 8 shot magazines. No jams in feeding chamber manually using the slide or on recoil after firing a shot. Same results for ejection. Best quality I've purchased.

    Happy happy

Good price for good ammo. Cycles w/o issue, runs pretty clean. Used to function check an older model A1 because of its known reliability. Can honestly say that I've never seen a malfunction caused by this particular loading in a properly maintained firearm.

I thought generally speaking, FMJ/TMJ rounds are not suitable for personal defense because of their proclivity for over penetration which can lead to serious collateral damage. Yet the product description for the Speer Lawman .45acp 230gr TMJ states: "USE - Personal Defense"... I'm confused, please clarify.

Thank you for contacting True Shot Ammo!
Your confusion is valid, and I’m happy to clarify. Generally, FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) and TMJ (Total Metal Jacket) rounds are not recommended for personal defense because they lack the controlled expansion of hollow-point ammunition. This can lead to over-penetration, where the bullet passes through the target and poses a danger to others.
The mention of "Personal Defense" in the product description for the Speer Lawman .45 ACP 230 Grain TMJ may be intended to highlight its reliability and use as a secondary option in situations where hollow-point ammunition is restricted or unavailable. TMJ ammunition also offers these advantages:

    Clean Shooting:

TMJ rounds minimize lead exposure, making them safer for extended indoor range use.

    Reliability:

TMJ bullets, like FMJs, feed consistently and reliably in most firearms.

For primary personal defense, hollow-point ammunition—such as Speer’s Gold Dot line—is a far better choice. Hollow points are specifically engineered to expand upon impact, maximizing energy transfer to the target and reducing the risk of over-penetration
