Hey all, we here at True Shot Academy want to go over
ATS Ammunition today. The company has been growing its international presence as an
ammunition producer for over 40 years. Our goal with this blog post is to provide a brief overview of the company while delving into their traits, product offerings, and more. Without further ado, let’s talk about
ATS Ammunition.
Who is ATS?
ATS Ammunition is the
ammunition production branch of the
ATS Group.
ATS Ammunition’s roots can be traced back to 1981 when the company began producing
ammunition at their Suvenir Samokov location in Macedonia. The company notably produces centerfire handgun and rifle
ammunition for a number of popular calibers. Additionally, the company produces
ammunition for both export and domestic use.
The company celebrated their 40
th year of
ammunition production in 2021, reaching the milestone of producing 120 million rounds per year. 2023 brought more success for
ATS Ammunition as they were integrated into the NATO Codification System community. In addition to providing the entity with an NCAGE (NATO Commercial and Government Entity) Code, this represented
ATS’ success on an international scale.
By 2024, the company reached another milestone as they had increased to 200 million rounds produced per year. The company has been around for just shy of 50 years and has achieved many degrees of success. Production capabilities and high-quality assurance practices have aided the company in their consistent growth.

Where is ATS Ammo Made?
The
ammunition produced by
ATS is produced in Macedonia at the company’s present factory of Samokov Sumbro. The facilities are located in Western Macedonia and feature a total area of 300,000 m2, 400,000 m2 (3229173.13 square feet, 4305564.17 square feet). The company’s facilities also feature a wide range of machinery and tooling for
ammunition production, allowing for large scale production.
ATS notably also produces a considerable number of
ammunition components in-house, meaning that they are not dependent upon external sources and can keep a close eye on quality.
Quality Manufacturing
ATS Ammunition produces their
ammo offerings in accordance with a variety of high standards and quality control measures. Notably, the company holds ISO and CIP certifications in addition to following MSDS guidelines. Additionally,
ATS is an official NATO partner which is registered with multiple NSN numbers and an NCAGE Code. What all of this means is that their
ammunition is produced in an accredited and vetted factory which is trusted by NATO and other international entities.
Product Offerings from ATS Ammunition
Currently,
ATS Ammunition produces centerfire
ammunition for use in pistols and rifles. At this point the company does not produce shotgun loadings. These loadings feature brass casings and most commercial offerings will feature lead cores, making them “range safe.”
Current commercial
ammunition offerings from ATS Ammunition:
-
9mm Luger – The company currently offers two full metal jacket (FMJ) 9mm Luger ammo offerings. One of the offerings comes in the form of a 115 grain 9mm loading while the other comes in the form of a 124 grain offering.
-
56x45mm NATO – The company currently offers two 5.56 ammo loadings. The two loadings from the company represent M193 and M855 5.56 ammo options. The M193 loading features a 55 grain projectile and a lead core FMJ projectile. The M855 loading features an iconic green tip 62 grain projectile with a steel core.
-
62x39 – The company currently offers an M67 spec 7.62x39 ammo offering. This loading features a 124 grain FMJ projectile with a lead core. The lead core of this 7.62x39 offering means that it is able to be used at ranges, unlike steel core loadings.
-
62x51mm NATO – The company currently offers an M80 spec 7.62x51mm loading. This loading features a 147 grain FMJ projectile with a lead core. As an M80 loading, this offering is designed to comply with NATO STANAG 2310 requirements.
-
.50 BMG / 12.7x99 – The company currently produces a .50 BMG loading. The loading produced by the company is loaded to M33 specifications and features an FMJ projectile.

Is ATS Ammo Corrosive?
ATS Ammunition offerings do not feature corrosive primers. Notably, the company utilizes Boxer primers in their loadings, primers which are rarely corrosive to begin with. Corrosive loadings tend to feature Berdan primers. This is not to say that all Berdan primers are corrosive, nor is it to say that all Boxer primers are non-corrosive because exceptions certainly exist. One thing for certain is that if you shoot
ATS Ammunition, you will not need to worry about corrosion.
Is ATS Ammo Reloadable?
As mentioned above,
ATS Ammunition offerings utilize Boxer primers. These primers are more conducive to reloading as they feature a consistent sizing specification. Berdan primers on the other hand are inconsistently sized and not as user friendly as Boxer primers. Additionally, the casings utilized by
ATS Ammunition are of the brass cased variety and are easier to reload than their steel cased counterparts. Brass is more malleable and easier on tools and reloading equipment than steel casings are. Simply put, one can expect to be able to reload the casings yielded from shooting
ATS Ammunition.
Conclusion
All in all, the products offered by
ATS Ammunition represent a great value for shooters. The company produces loadings for a variety of popular calibers which are safe for use at even some of the most restrictive ranges. Furthermore, the company’s offerings are affordable and will not break the bank, allowing shooters to stock up and spend more time at the range. In addition to
