Independence Ammunition is a brand which is under the umbrella of Vista Outdoors, a commercial sporting group owned by Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK). The company also is the parent company of Federal, a large producer of ammunition in the United States. Cascade Cartridges Inc., or CCI, is also a brand which falls under the umbrella of Vista Outdoors. These are important distinctions as Federal typically distributes Independence Ammunition with labeling and branding similar to ammunition sold by CCI. Cases of Independence Ammunition feature labeling with a Lewiston, Idaho address, just like Blazer offerings from CCI.
A number of popular pistol calibers are available from Independence Ammunition. The pistol ammunition offerings include .380 ACP, 9mm Luger, .40 Smith & Wesson, .45 ACP, and .357 Magnum. A majority of the pistol ammunition offered by the company will feature full metal jacket (FMJ) projectiles. Loadings of this type are well-suited for general purpose range use. These corrosive loadings generally hail from Eastern European countries and former Soviet states such as Russia, former Czechoslovakia, and Romania to name a few. Luckily, Independence Ammunition is not corrosive.
Steel cased ammunition is often a bit cheaper than its brass cased counterparts. Generally, steel cased ammunition is imported into the United States from former Soviet states and other Eastern European countries. Despite being imported, Independence Ammunition does not make use of steel casings with their ammunition. Brass casings are utilized with all of the pistol and rifle ammunition offered by the company.
Whether one is shooting pistol or rifle loadings from Independence Ammunition, one will be able to reload their spent casings. This is due to the fact that brass casings are utilized in their composition. Independence Ammunition loadings utilize fresh brass casings in their manufacturing. This is to say that their ammunition is newly manufactured and not reloaded or remanufactured. These fresh casings are reloadable by and end user.
If one is looking to stock up on 5.56x45mm NATO or some common pistol calibers for plinking, Independence Ammunition is worth considering. Their loadings are offered in bulk quantities which will aid shooters in building or adding to an existing ammo stash. As far as their JHP loadings go, one could stock up on these to have affordable defensive ammunition on hand.
