  10. Will it penitrate a breastbone or fragment?

Q Will it penitrate a breastbone or fragment? answer now
    A

Hey George! Thank you for your question. The Norma 9mm 65 grain frangible ammunition is designed with specific characteristics that differentiate it from traditional full metal jacket or hollow-point rounds. Here's an overview of its intended use and performance, particularly in terms of penetration and fragmentation:

    Frangible Ammunition Characteristics:

    • Material: Frangible ammunition is made from compressed metal powders, typically including copper or tin, that are designed to break apart upon impact with hard surfaces.
    • Purpose: The primary use of frangible rounds is for training and shooting in close-quarters environments where reduced ricochet and back-splash hazards are essential. They are popular in tactical training scenarios, steel target shooting, and certain military and law enforcement applications.

    Penetration and Fragmentation:

    • Fragmentation Upon Impact: Given its design to disintegrate upon hitting hard targets, a frangible bullet like the Norma 9mm 65 grain is less likely to penetrate through hard materials like a breastbone as compared to traditional ammunition. Instead, it's designed to fragment upon impact, reducing the likelihood of through-and-through penetration.
    • Safety and Reduced Ricochet: This fragmentation reduces the risk of ricochet and collateral damage, making it safer for certain types of training and indoor shooting ranges.

Specifics to the Norma 9mm 65 Grain Frangible:

    • Penetration: While specifically engineered to break apart on hard surfaces, the actual penetration capability can vary depending on the target material's hardness and thickness. Against soft tissues or targets, it may not fragment immediately but is still less likely to penetrate as deeply as non-frangible rounds.
    • Use Case: It's crucial to consider the intended use of frangible ammunition. It's not typically designed for defensive purposes but rather for specific training scenarios where safety and reduced penetration are paramount.

In summary, Norma's 9mm 65 grain frangible ammunition is designed to minimize penetration and fragmentation on hard targets, making it less likely to penetrate a breastbone effectively. This type of ammo is chosen for its safety features in training environments rather than for its penetrating power. If you have specific concerns or scenarios in mind, it's always best to choose the type of ammunition that fits your particular needs, considering both the environment and the purpose of the shooting.

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the compatibility of NORMA 9mm 65 Grain Frangible Ammunition with your CZ Scorpion 9mm and AR9 firearms.

NORMA ammunition is known for its high quality and reliability, and the 9mm 65 Grain Frangible rounds are designed for use in a variety of firearms, including pistols and carbines chambered in 9mm.

Both the CZ Scorpion and AR9 are popular firearms chambered in 9mm, and they should be able to safely and properly function with NORMA 9mm 65 Grain Frangible Ammunition. However, it's always essential to follow the manufacturer's recommendations regarding ammunition type and to ensure that the ammunition you're using is appropriate for your specific firearm model.

Before using any new type of ammunition, I would recommend conducting a thorough inspection of your firearms to ensure they are in good working condition. Additionally, it's a good idea to start with a small quantity of the new ammunition and test-fire it in a safe and controlled environment to verify reliability and functionality.

If you have any further questions or if there's anything else we can assist you with, please don't hesitate to let us know. We're here to help.

  14. Not a question. I don't know how effective it will be for self defense. But I am sure it would hurt like hell. It has recoil like any full power load. I bought 1000 rounds. Swapping ammo with other shooters, it is very accurate. Has anyone done ballistics testing on this ammo? If it doesn't fragment or powder, then I would only use it on paper targets, soda cans, rats in the kitchen ETC.

Q Are they legal in NY? answer now
    A

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, frangible ammunition is generally legal in New York. However, please note that firearms and ammunition laws can change, and it's crucial to verify the current regulations as they might have been updated after that time.

Frangible ammunition is designed to break apart upon impact, reducing the risk of ricochets and minimizing damage to targets. Always ensure compliance with local and state laws regarding the purchase, possession, and use of ammunition types in New York. It's advisable to consult local law enforcement or legal authorities or refer to the latest New York state legislation to confirm the current status and any restrictions on frangible ammunition.

True Shot Ammo wants your shopping experience to be the best in the industry. For that reason, we are the only major ammunition retailer to offer a 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee.

You may return most items within 30 days of the delivery date for a full refund or exchange, provided the ammunition is in its original, unopened packaging. Typically, the customer is responsible for the cost of the return label, unless the error is caused by True Shot Ammo. Proof of purchase (order confirmation or receipt) is required for all returns. Returns or refunds will not be accepted after 30 days.

Please read the details as some restrictions apply.
